Spicy Ketchup

Spicy Ketchup

By: Jenn Alberts

This spicy ketchup is so easy to make and really adds the extra punch to any dish you are serving. I love this ketchup on my field roast meatloaf… it’s a MUST for that dish! You can swap out the type of spice you use here but I love the chipotle chile powder because it adds a nice smokey flavor, without being overpowering. The spice level here is fairly low so add more spice to your liking.

Spicy Ketchup

Step 1

Add oil to a small pot on the stove and heat oil on medium heat for 1-2 min.

Step 2

Add garlic and cook for about 2 min.

Step 3

Reduce heat to low and add all spices, stir.

Step 4

Add tomato sauce, paste, apple cider vinegar and brown sugar.

Step 5

Stir and let simmer uncovered over lowest heat for about 20 min, stirring occasionally. This low simmer should allow your spices to infuse into the tomato sauce and reduce your moisture just a tad.

Spicy Ketchup

Step 6

Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Good for at least 2 weeks.
